Our Story
Hi, I’m Renee—founder of The GET Co., a mum of four, and a certified children’s yoga teacher trained in Yoga Therapy for Kids through the Zenergy method.
I created The GET Co. because I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and out of options. Like many families, we’ve navigated diagnoses, therapy plans, school meetings, and systems that don’t always see the whole child. I’ve parented through disability, neurodivergence, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, bullying, and self-harm—and I’ve learned that even when you do everything right, finding support that actually works can feel impossible.

When my second youngest was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare and complex condition that affects every system in his body, our world shifted. But it wasn’t just one diagnosis or one child—it's been a 17 year complex, layered journey through care, advocacy, heartbreak, and growth, and that lived experience now shapes everything I do.
The GET Co. is something I wish had existed when we started that journey. It’s a calm, inclusive program where children of all abilities are met with compassion, creativity, and evidence-informed tools to support regulation, self-expression, and resilience.
Every class, every breath, and every moment is rooted in the belief that our kids are already whole—and that with the right guidance, they can thrive.
I’m professionally trained in Yoga Therapy for children and teens and bring over a decade of experience in leadership, systems design, and advocacy - But most importantly, I’m a parent who truly gets it. At The GET Co., we meet your child exactly where they are—because that’s where transformation begins.

Our Vision
A world where all children—regardless of ability or background—are recognised for their strengths, supported through their struggles, and equipped with lifelong tools to thrive.

Our Mission
To nurture growth, encourage empowerment, and celebrate transformation in every child.
WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?
It’s not just yoga. And it’s definitely not just stretching.
At The GET Co., yoga therapy isn’t a wellness trend or a glorified stretching session. It’s a targeted, evidence-informed, and developmentally aligned approach to physically, emotionally, and socially supporting children.
We created The GET Co. after seeing families bounce between traditional therapies with nowhere for children to integrate what they were learning, let alone feel safe enough to grow. That’s the gap we fill.
First, Let’s Clear Up the Confusion
Yoga therapy is not:
-
A generic kids' yoga class
-
Just about mindfulness or calming music
-
A replacement for occupational therapy, speech, or psychology
What it is:
A somatic-based, trauma-aware well-being program that combines
-
Targeted therapeutic movement
-
Breathwork and nervous system regulation techniques
-
Meridian-based sequencing (rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine)
-
Interoception, emotional literacy, and confidence-building tools
-
Structured, play-based activities tailored to age and ability
We use movement as medicine—and it works.
Why It Works: The Brain-Body Connection
When children are dysregulated, stressed, or overwhelmed, their brain’s “thinking” centre shuts down. They can’t reason, reflect, or talk about their feelings until their body feels safe.
Yoga therapy helps by activating the vagus nerve and supporting the integration of the brainstem (survival), limbic system (emotions), and prefrontal cortex (logic and learning). The result? Better regulation, focus, and emotional resilience.
“Yoga and mindfulness practices have been found to improve attention, self-regulation, and resilience in children.”
— Center for Education Innovation, Harvard University

Our Framework
At The GET Co., our programs are grounded in a multidisciplinary framework that brings together meridian theory and principles of developmental psychology.
We integrate traditional yoga practices with child-centred therapeutic approaches, drawing from Erickson and Piaget’s models of growth and emotional development. Sessions are designed to support self-regulation, sensory processing, social-emotional learning, and executive function through age-appropriate movement, breathwork, imaginative play, and peer connection.
By mapping practices to the body's energy systems, we tailor each session to support both emotional states (like anxiety or frustration) and physical needs (like low tone or sensory overwhelm).
Our 8 Week Model
Our 8-week therapeutic model is built for real-world change—not quick fixes. Each week includes structured, themed yoga therapy sessions and a take-home journal, My Yoga Journey, to bridge learning between home and class. Children experience consistent opportunities to build strength, emotional literacy, focus, and resilience.
At The GET Co., we believe transformation isn’t about perfection—it’s about giving every child the tools to feel strong, safe, and seen.

WHO CAN WE HELP?
At The GET Co., we support the children who are often overlooked, misunderstood, or labelled—those who don’t fit neatly into systems yet desperately need support.
Our programs are designed for children and teens aged 3 to 17, regardless of ability, who may be:
-
Neurodivergent (including Autism, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability)
-
Experiencing emotional regulation challenges like anxiety, stress, or overwhelm
-
Living with trauma, grief, or post-pandemic school disengagement
-
Navigating sensory processing difficulties or sensitivities to noise, texture, or touch
-
Struggling with low self-worth, school refusal, or social connection
-
Coping with physical conditions such as low muscle tone or fatigue
-
Feeling the weight of bullying, exclusion, or not being seen for who they really are
-
Managing hormonal or emotional changes, including menstrual health challenges
We also work with children who may not have a diagnosis but show signs of dysregulation, confidence struggles, or difficulties settling into group settings—what we call “the missing middle.”
Whether your child has complex needs or simply needs a safe, nurturing space to grow, our yoga therapy meets them where they are. Through movement, mindfulness, breath, and playful engagement, we help children feel strong in their body, regulated in their emotions, and confident in who they are
